FOLSOM — After posting an 8-2 record in Delta River League action, the Oak Ridge High boys tennis team continued its winning ways Monday in the first round of the Sac-Joaquin Section Division I playoffs with a 9-0 win over Vintage at the Broadstone Racquet Club.

Trojan singles players Charlie Conarro, Simon Chan and Clarence Lai won their matches in straight sets. while Matt Fergerson, Matt Lai and Sam Miller won in three. It took Clarence 30 minutes to knock off Landon Douglas, 6-1, 6-0.

“I felt really good today,” said Clarence, who is the Trojans’ No. 4 singles player. “I like to play back on defense. And defense makes offense.”

Conarro, Oak Ridge’s No. 1 singles player, defeated Jake Floyd, 6-1, 6-2. Chan, who is in the No. 2 slot, posted a 6-0, 6-0 win over Tucker Kobylka.

“Our singles players have played very well this year,” Oak Ridge head coach Patrick Rutz said.

Oak Ridge also won its double matches in straight sets. Leading the way was the No. 1 set of Hayden Jacobsen and Armon Aryani, who won 6-3, 7-6 over Vintage’s Aaron Star and Ryan Kaung.
