CSD has fun March schedule

By From page C17 | March 06, 2012

The Cameron Park Community Services District is teaming with Tumble Time Gymnastics and All Star Gymnastics & Cheer to offer programs for kids ages 0 to 14 years. Preschool Gymnastics, Gymnastics for Home School Students, Friday Night Parents Night Out, Baby Crawl and more — all with new classes starting in March.

If dance is something you’ve always wanted to try, or something you’ve been doing for years the Cameron Park CSD has dance classes for you. Our youth dance classes include Ballet, Hip Hop, Jazz, Musical Theater and more. While our adult classes offer Ballroom Dance, Waltz, Foxtrot, Salsa, Cha-Cha and much more. There is a little something for everyone, even those with two left feet.

New Cameron Park CSD sports seasons are starting and the registration deadlines are quickly approaching. Flag Football for second- through eighth-graders will run April through June with one practice per week and games on Saturday afternoons; registration ends March 13. Adult Basketball March Wednesday League begins March 28 and will run through May 23. Teams can register together; individuals may register as free agents to be placed on a team.

Looking to work at the pool this summer? Take the lifeguard training class held at the Community Services District the week of April 2-6. This week-long class will teach you how to be a lifeguard. Must be 15 and pass a swim test.

Our featured classes this month are our brand new Youth Ballet classes and brand new adult Zumba Gold Toning classes. Youth Ballet classes are offered for 3- to 5-year-olds, 5- to 8-year-olds, and 8- to 12-year-olds. Ballet builds strength, flexibility, grace and poise — its’ fun also! These classes will introduce a solid foundation to ballet, focusing on the Cecchetti method.

Zumba Gold Toning classes are offered for ages 18 and older. This class involves low-to-moderate strength training. It will combine Zumba choreography and moves with the Zumba lightweight toning sticks to enhance endurance and muscle strength (Zumba toning sticks provided). This is a great way to have fun and improve your muscle strength and toning.

On Saturday, March 3, head to the Cameron Park Community Center, 2502 Country Club Drive, for a live, indoor concert performance by Sister Swing — a trio of vocalists that preserve the vintage jazz sounds of the girls groups of the 1930s & 1940s and their band The Chopped Liver Orchestra. Food and beverages will be for sale. Doors open at 6 p.m. and the show will start at 7 p.m. Pre-order tickets for $18, two for $34. Or buy tickets at the door for $20 each. Tickets are available at CSD office, Chamber Office and online at
