Letter to the Speaker

By From page A5 | January 15, 2014

Enclosed is a later I recently sent to Speaker Boehner of the House of Representatives.

Dear Speaker Boehner:

Now is the time for all good men to come to the aid of their country — United States of America.

The Founders of our great country in their esteemed wisdom wrote into the Constitution that the House of Representatives has the power of the purse. They did this because the members of the House are the people’s direct representatives. All members must stand for election every two years and be directly accountable to the people for their actions or inactions. The people have and will continue to hold each member accountable for his/her campaign promises.

As stated, the House of Representatives is responsible to the people. It is not responsible to the president, the senate, the media, Republican consultants, not even the leadership of the Republican Party. I pray that you, your leadership team and each member will act this way when it considers major decisions now confronting you — Obamacare, federal spending, national debt and the Federal Reserve printing of more and more money which is becoming less and less worthy.

Obamacare: The House should in no way help the president and Democrats get off the hook for this abomination. The past six weeks shows truly how horrible this law is. No Republican voted for its passage and no Republican should vote to change any portion of this law. It must be totally eliminated before more people get harmed and find it more difficult to change.

Do not let the president continue to violate the Constitution with a dictate from on-high to change any portion of Obamacare. You have acquiesced to his change actions in the past. Do not continue to silently participate in Mr. Obama’s unconstitutional actions.

Please believe me, and many others, when we say that Mr. Obama knows exactly what he is doing and that is to gain control of a major portion of our economy and the lives of millions of people. That is called socialism.

You may ask how can the House eliminate Obamacare? Not by passing bills and sending them to the Senate. You have done that many times. And, I am certain you knew that the Senate would not even bring your bills up for a vote. It may have made you feel good, but it did no good for the people. You were given the power of the purse, now use it. If the Senate/Democrats want to ignore you and shut down the government, do not blink. Let them do it, but have an aggressive communication counter attack to easily point
out who is at fault. During the recent partial government shutdown you and the Republican “leadership” spent your efforts ridiculing two Tea Party Senators rather than addressing the issues of the Obamacare abomination. You would have succeeded in defunding Obamacare in October with an aggressive communication attack plan. Just tell the truth, the president and the Democrats created Obamacare; it’s their baby and it’s their fault.

Federal spending/national debt: These two issues are interlocked. Our $17 trillion of debt is not due to low taxes. It is due to uncontrolled spending. I believe the House has been negligent, not just under your leadership but past Democrat and Republican leaderships, in following the Constitution when authorizing the spending of funds. Continuing Resolutions do nothing to solve this problem. Kicking the can down the road is the best that can be said for CRs as they actually give more time to entrench a bloated and still growing federal workforce. I have read in several places that the federal workforce has grown substantially under Mr. Obama (possibly about 1,000,000) and its average pay exceeds the average pay of those in the private workforce who actually pay the bureaucrats salary.

The House needs to adopt budgets and spending authorizations for each department, agency and the White House, which actually cuts spending and not merely reduces the rate of spending growth. Send them to the Senate. Don’t blink. Don’t get trapped into faux negotiations.

Federal reserve: Listen to what Senator Paul is saying about auditing and controlling the Federal Reserve. In my opinion, the Fed has tried to soften the blow of Mr. Obama’s horrendous economic policies by its Quantitative Easing programs. This “created money” has enriched some of the larger banks, but has not filtered down to assist businesses create jobs, build factories and grow the economy. (Businessmen, the real players in our economy, see the uncertainty of Mr. Obama’s policies.) All it has done is made our dollar less worthy. Let’s put a stop to this nonsense.

Included in my evening prayers to our Creator are that you will fully understand the president’s objectives and what he meant when he told us he was going to transform the United States of America and to counter his plans with your plans to return our federal government to a Constitutional Republic. I pray that you will use the Constitution as your guide when creating bills, authorizing budgets, spending our funds and dealing with the states and the people. Further, you will use our Judeo/Christian based
culture for returning our country to our strong historical best.

Note: Mr. Speaker, the Republican majority which brought forth your Speakership owe your current positions to the energetic Tea Party people in the 2010 mid-term elections.
