Fall weather means party time

It is sponsored by the Senior Council and the Placerville Senior Nutrition Lunch Program. Doors open at 10:30 a.m., entertainment by Funatics German Polka Band begins at 11 a.m. and a delicious lunch including polish sausage is served at noon. The suggested donation is $3 for seniors 60 and older, and all others pay $5. Our local fire department staff will be there to serve and clean up. We thank them and we appreciate all they do for us. Brand new program: Boomer Ed 1010
If you were born between 1948 and 1953 (or know someone who was) join us for an informative program to learn about Medicare, Social Security, veteran’s issues and more. This early evening series will be held from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. on Mondays, Sept 16-30, at the Senior Center. Reservations are necessary.

Balance matters forum
Join us on Monday, Sept. 30, to hear our panel of experts talk about the importance of balance. The percentage of seniors who fall annually is staggering. Don’t become a statistic! Our panel includes a senior fitness specialist, physical therapist and trauma specialist at Marshall Medical. They will share what you can do to stay safe. Do this for yourself! Refreshments will be served.

Senior lunches
Delicious and nutritious lunches are served weekdays at noon at the El Dorado Hills Senior Center, 990 Lassen Lane. For seniors 60 and older the suggested donation is $3, all others $5. This is a great place to have lunch, meet new people and visit with friends. Reservations are not necessary, but come early to assure a seat!

Hoppin’ in September
September brings many interesting programs to the Senior Center. Join us for a monthly Senior Center orientation program, Guitar and Ukulele Lessons, Oil Painting, Writing and Selling your Novel, Memoir or Non-Fiction Book, Potstickers 101 Workshop and our very own El Dorado Hills Fire Department officials will share a 2013 update on what’s new at the fire department, changes in local ambulance care and what they mean to you,  plus see new Ladder Truck 85 and more!

Our guest speaker topics include: Powers of Attorney by Diana Steele, Applying Cherokee Life Lessons to YOUR life with Bob Billingsley, Free Lunch and Learn: Sleep Concerns, and The Biggest Health Secrets. Call to sign up!

On Friday, Sept. 27, your Senior Fun Time Band plays a concert at the center at 1 p.m.

The Movie of the Month scheduled for Monday, Sept. 16, is “42” the story of the great Jackie Robinson. (Monday, Sept. 2, is the Labor Day holiday so the Senior Center will be closed.) Join us for free movies and popcorn!
