PLACERVILLE — Undo a notch on your buckle and stretch out those blue jeans because this year’s food selections at the El Dorado County Fair will have you lining back up for seconds, thirds and more! With a list of exciting new vendors, and of course all of your classic fair foods, we guarantee your stomach will be full of everything but disappointment this year.

Many think the classic grilled cheese sandwich is hard to outdo … wrong! Step up to Drewski’s Hot Road Kitchen and experience a grilled cheese sandwich unlike you ever imagined. This popular food truck from Sacramento specializes in gourmet grilled cheese sandwiches including their signature pulled pork and mac and cheese grilled cheese sandwich (a mouthful, literally!). They’ll also serve everything from deep fried mac n’ cheese balls to sweet potato fries and their famous tots! Still wanting some’more? Check out their “S’moreski” — a whipped marshmallow, Nutella, graham cracker grilled on sweet French roll.

Coming to you from Lincoln, New West BBQ will draw in the crowds by the delicious smells coming from their booth. All day their giant smoker will be producing delicious barbecue covered in their homemade barbecue sauce. What doesn’t go better with barbecue than a fresh off the grill corn on the cob? Ana Co will be selling their delicious corn on the cob as well as other favorites such as their stuffed baked potatoes with all the fixings.

Skip the meal and head straight for dessert! On a hot summer day, nothing sounds better than a scoop of ice cream right? Well what if we told you that hand-scooped ice cream was actually churned by a John Deere tractor! Head over to Wende’s Hit & Miss Ole’ Fashion Ice Cream and experience a scoop of ice cream like you never have before. Looking for something a little more international? Don’t forget to visit our friends at Colossal Gelato where they will be serving up the dessert that Italy is known for — gelato! What’s better than homemade pie? Free pie! Help the fair name their Pastry Booth on the El Dorado County Fair Facebook page by submitting a name; if your suggestion is chosen, you’ll win a pair of tickets to the fair and two pieces of pie! Fairgoers can choose from five mouth-watering flavors supplied by Sierra Rizing: four berry, fruits of the valley, apple cinnamon, lemon meringue and a flourless chocolate cake. In addition to slices of pie, pie a la mode and chocolate cake, the pastry booth will be serving up donuts provided by Sweet Score, assorted pastries and coffee. All proceeds from the Pastry Booth go to help raise money for capital improvements on the fairgrounds.

Don’t think the sweets ended there! Enjoy a Slushie as you browse the food selections along Concessionaire Row. Everyday Lynn’s Uddeer D-Lite will be serving up frozen bananas, sundaes and root beer floats. Or enjoy the ice cream of the future and pick up a bowl of Dippin’ Dots!

If you’re looking for a “pick-me-up,” treat yourself to a mocha or coffee drink from Pony Express. Craving something south of the border? Pick up some of your Mexican food favorites at Fiesta Concessions. Or maybe you’d prefer something to snack on throughout the day? Munch on a bag of delicious Kettle Corn (Warning: Snacking may turn into eating the entire bag in one day). If you’re near the livestock barns, Cool Red Bus will be serving everything from hot dogs and hamburgers to shaved ice.

What kind of fair would we be without funnel cakes? Stop by JT Funnel Cakes and indulge in this classic fair treat! Their funnel cakes are delicious, and feature a variety of toppings to choose from. We are so thankful to have them as our sponsor for the Free Kid’s Funnel Cake Eating Contest happening each day at the fair.

For those strong-willed individuals, there will be plenty of healthy food options including a fresh fruit stand and a Jamba Juice booth.

Make sure to support your local non-profit groups! Start off your morning with a breakfast sandwich from the Union Mine Music Boosters. Enjoy the famous tacos of the Active 20/30 Club or a slice of pizza from the Full Life Fellowship. Pleasant Valley Grange No. 675 will be selling a fair favorite, corn dogs! Then end your day the right way, with a margarita from the Georgetown Divide Rotary Club Margarita Booth.

Come out and experience all of the amazing foods of the 2013 El Dorado County Fair, June 13-16. With so many new vendors, the hardest decision you’ll be making all day is which food you want to try next!
