By From page B4 | September 18, 2013

Melissa de la Cruz, New York Times and USA Today bestselling author of many award-winning novels for young adults (including the “Blue Bloods” and “Au Pair” series), and co-author Michale Johnson will kick off a new series at El Dorado Hills’ Face in a Book.

The authors will appear at the Town Center shop at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 19, to debut “Frozen, Book 1, Heart of Dread,” which takes place in a city blanketed with ice and introduces a heroine desperately seeking escape.

De la Cruz, who currently lives in Los Angeles and Palm Springs, grew up in Manila and moved to San Francisco with her family. She has worked as a fashion and beauty editor for publications including The New York Times, Marie Claire and Harper’s Bazaar, and has appeared as an expert on fashion, trends and fame for CNN, E! and Fox News. A TV series, “The Witches of East End,” based on Melissa de la Cruz’s series, is set to debut this fall on the Lifetime Network.

Also in September … D.J. MacHale, author of the hugely popular ten-volume “Pendragon” series for young readers, comes to Face in a Book to sign copies of the first book in his new trilogy at 7 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 30. “Sylo” begins on a peaceful island, in a community rocked by mysterious deaths. Everyone is suspect and no one is safe!

Face in a Book is located at 4359 Town Center Blvd., Suite 113, in El Dorado Hills. For more information about the event or the bookstore call (916) 941-9401.
