Women recharge in ‘Dixie Swim Club’

By January 3, 2012

Chautauqua Playhouse announces their next show, the comedy “The Dixie Swim Club” by Jesse Jones, Nicholas Hope and Jamie Wooten, opening Jan. 13 at the playhouse.

The show will run on Fridays and Saturdays at 8 p.m. and Sundays at 2 p.m. through Feb. 19. All performances will be held at the Chautauqua Playhouse, 5325 Engle Road in the La Sierra Community Center in Carmichael. Admission is $19 general and $17 students, seniors, children and SARTA members.

Five Southern women who first met on their college swim team many years ago get together for a long weekend each August to recharge their relationships. When these women meet up anything can happen and usually does. Free from husbands, kids and jobs, they meet at the same beach cottage on North Carolina’s Outer Banks to laugh, catch up, and meddle in each other’s lives. This story of five unforgettable women is a touching comedy about friendships that last forever.

The production is directed by Paul Fearn and features Lee Marie Kelly, Shaleen Schmutzer-Smith, Georgann Wallace, Julie Bock and Kim Moses. Set design is by Rodger Hoopman with lighting design by Don Myers.

Information and tickets are available through the Chautauqua Playhouse website at cplayhouse.org or call the box office at (916) 489-7529, during business hours.
