El Dorado County Auditor-Controller Joe Harn was presented the Award for Financial Transaction Reporting by State Controller Betty Yee at the State Controller’s annual Conference for County Auditors on Nov. 2.

“El Dorado County’s reporting excellence helps the state controller publish accurate and useful local government financial data in the Counties Annual Report. Policymakers and other interested parties throughout California rely on the quality of this uniformly reported information,” Yee said.

Counties must follow the eligibility criteria specified by the state controller to qualify for this award, including the timely submission of the financial transactions report and county budget, the proper classification of revenue and expenditure data and complete and proper reporting of outstanding debt.

“In all organizations, management needs timely, accurate financial information. Because of my staff’s outstanding work, my office is able to deliver the
timely, accurate financial information that the Board of Supervisors, CAO and the state controller’s wants and needs,” Harn said. “All the credit for this award should go to my staff.”

Harn is a certified public accountant and the chair of the State Controller’s Advisory Committee on County Accounting Procedures.
