El Dorado County sheriff’s deputies with the aid of a K-9 officer and handler tracked down and arrested a suspected burglar Thursday.

Employees of the Gold Key storage in El Dorado Hills reported a suspicious man lurking on the back side of the Golden Foothill Parkway business.

“Employees attempted to contact him and he took off running in the area of Latrobe Road and Suncast Lane,” officials said.

Deputies quickly arrived on scene and checked the area for the suspect. While speaking with residents in the area, one reported seeing a man matching the description scaling a fence and entering an indoor building at Life Storage on Latrobe Road.
Additional deputies and a K9 handler arrived on scene and set up a perimeter on the exterior of the building. Upon entry, deputies discovered evidence the man made entry into the building and was hiding within the locked storage units, officials said.

The man, identified as David Ewbank, 38, was reportedly found hiding in a storage unit and arrested on suspicion of burglary and obstruction. At press time Monday he remained in the El Dorado County Jail in Placerville in lieu of $10,000 bail.
