New assistant principal keeps it positive

At the start of the school year James Wrede made Oak Ridge High School his home. The new assistant principal comes from Gunderson High School in San Jose, which is known as a “tech magnet.”

He moved to El Dorado Hills to raise his three children and said he wants to use his strengths to help improve Oak Ridge. “The people in this community are fortunate to have such a wonderful school and I can’t wait to take my strengths and talents and use them to contribute to making it an even better place than it is.” Wrede said.

During his time at Oak Ridge, Wrede explained that he would like to help improve the school climate and structure and integrate technology that can help students and teachers alike. He said he also wishes to provide more opportunities to those who may have some kind of barrier in their learning process and promote opportunities for students to get better every day.

Oak Ridge is a large school with a great deal of academic programs that provides many opportunities for the students, he continued, adding that the students seem interested in their academic studies and outgoing with everything they do.

In an average work day Wrede helps students, supervises school events, assesses the teaching and learning process in a classroom and makes decisions that will affect the school. When he is not at work, he spends his time taking care of his children, working out and playing tennis.

His outlook on life: “Working to get better every day and stay positive despite whatever circumstances may arise.”
