Valley View Charter Montessori opens

Children were greeted with fist bumps and smiles last Wednesday morning as Valley View Charter Montessori’s first students started the 2017-18 school year.

Valley View is the newest school in the Buckeye Union School District, though the site was built in 2012 and 75 percent of its staff came from Blue Oak Charter Montessori, including principal Paul Stewart. The Valley View campus served as the district office as the Blackstone community continued to be built out.

Blaze engulfs EDH home under construction

Early Tuesday morning local firefighters responded to a structure fire in a new subdivision between El Dorado Hills and Folsom.

El Dorado Hills Fire Department crews arrived on scene at approximately 2:15 a.m. to a large single-story residential house under construction that was 50 to 60 percent involved.

“The fire was already through the roof when the crews arrived,” said EDH Deputy Fire Chief Michael Lilienthal.

In EDH: More choices on north side

The Lake Forest and Safeway Shopping centers on Green Valley Road will see some vacant retail centers filled in August.

A Lees’ Feed & Western Wear store is coming to the Safeway center.

“A lot of customers on that side of town have been telling us they’d like to see a store on that side of the freeway,” said Tegan Lee, one of the business’ owners. “We’ve been looking for more than a year.”

MVMS facelift under way

Marina Village Middle School staff welcomed students back to classes this week and despite cordoned off areas and portable classrooms that have been moved to the most eastern portion of campus, Principal George Tapanes expressed enthusiasm for what’s to come.
