DA says sanctuary bill would make matters worse

Adding his voice to those opposed to Senate Bill 54, El Dorado County District Attorney Vern Pierson recently testified against the proposed legislation before the State Assembly Judiciary Committee.

The bill, which has already passed the State Senate, would make California a sanctuary state for illegal immigrants.

Serrano fire scorches 13 acres

Serrano residents had a close call Wednesday afternoon when a grass fire burned right up to homes’ fences before it was extinguished.

Just before 2 p.m. crews from the El Dorado Hills Fire Department, Cal Fire, Cameron Park Fire and Rescue Fire Department responded to a reported fire near Rosado Drive.

Brenden Groess a new Eagle Scout

Oak Ridge High School sophomore Brenden Groess recently earned the rank of Eagle Scout, the highest rank a Boy Scout may earn.

The 15-year-old joined Cub Scouts in second grade. He was then a Webelo and by sixth grade Brenden became a Boy Scout in Troop 645.
