Skeel lands GM post in Tahoe

By From page A1 | August 15, 2012

John Skeel has landed on his feet. The former El Dorado Hills Community Services District general manager took the reins of the Tahoe Resource Conservation District on July 23.

You might still run into him in the supermarket, however. Reached by phone, Skeel said he was “thrilled” to be able to stay in the area, and that his family will remain in El Dorado Hills for now.

His new office is in South Lake Tahoe, near Camp Richardson, but he expects to be back in El Dorado Hills on weekends.

At this point, there are few in the community who don’t wish him well.

The job marks the first of two milestones that will bring closure to his firing, an ugly year-plus of allegations and denials that culminated in Skeel filing suit against the EDHCSD and its board members, and the board replacing its legal counsel.

A board recall effort that followed is unlikely to make the deadline for the November ballot, which requires 4,235 valid signatures for each of the five board members by Aug. 10.

The second milestone is the resolution of the lawsuit, which is rumored to be at hand. Stay tuned.

I wish him well. What he went through was unquestionably on of the low points for El Dorado Hills. It is a lesson for future boards on how not to act. I guess the problems employees must work under, what nepotism looks like and how you can get ahead if you are "friends" of the right person has been swept under the rug. We can only see what happens after this election, and if new rules are enacted to weed out problem employees.

I wish John Skeel well. And I still hope he gets a bundle of $$$$ for what happened to him. Which Board member was it that said that no matter what the payout, the CSD's insurance would cover it? Brilliant baffoon(s).

I wish John and his family well. The way he was treated in EDH, should be a learning experience for everyone, unfortunately it was at his families expense. I still can't believe it's over a year and half later and we still don't have a GM for the EDH CSD!? There are so many flaws. I do hope he wins his case for wrongful termination and is awarded the dollars he deserves. I just hope the voters remember all this and remove the one person that shouldn't be re-elected in November.

My name is Terry Crumpley and I am running for the EDH CSD board, as well. I believe in common sense decision making and fiscal responsibility. We should have confidence in those we elect to represent us. Please visit my website at or email me at: [email protected] Thank you!

Best news the EHD residents have had all year. Best wishes to John and his family. After all they have been thru, that they still want to call EDH home says lots of the great residents in the community. Next we all need to stand by our community and get rid of the cancer sitting on the Board. I can't believe she is running again. This shows she has no conscience. And her side kick is in full bloom. Get rid of 2 rotten apples with one vote!! This alone will show the Skeel family that we are so sorry for the high school playground behavior of the PAST board member.

  • Tahoe's Gain...August 14, 2012 - 11:54 pm El Dorado Hill's loss. Obviously Skeel was highly qualified to land a job with a pending lawsuit. I'm so happy for the Skeel family! Now if we can only clean up the CSD family. Remember it is the current board that created this mess and the unsettled lawsuits. I suggest people pay attention to the upcoming election and make sure the 2 incumbents running are not allowed to continue to put our community at risk. It's time for a change and there are 4 other candidates running. I know who not to vote for and I wish these new candidates good luck. El dorado Hills deserves better. We need integrity and people interested in supporting the entire community instead of their friends and special interests.
