Oak Ridge honors top athletes

Oak Ridge High School honored their Athletes of the Year Sunday evening.

Awards given were:

Freshmen Female of the Year Morgan Jones (Water Polo, Basketball, Swim)
Freshmen Male of the Year Ryan Sullivan (Football, Basketball, Baseball)
Sophomore Female of the Year Jenn Hoffman (Basketball)
Sophomore Male of the Year Josh Wellman (Lacrosse, Football)
Junior Female of the Year Haley Anderson (Basketball)
Junior Male of the Year Keaton Subjeck (Wrestling)
Senior Female of the Year Jenna Klein (Basketball)
Senior Male of the Year Bryce Scott (Basketball)
Outstanding Career Athlete Senior Haley Simmons (Volleyball)
Outstanding Career Athlete Senior Garrison Yeandle (Water Polo, Swim)

The Oak Ridge Athlete of the Year award is for the best female and male athletes in each class based on their performances this school year. In addition to being a good athlete, this person is someone that Oak Ridge is proud to honor for good character, sportsmanship and as a role model. Consideration is given for multiple sports, community service and awards.

The Outstanding Career Athlete is awarded to the female and male athletes for the best career of work. They must have a GPA of 2.8, earned three varsity letters, be a good role model, and a good sportsman. Consideration is given for multiple sports, leadership qualities and awards earned.

The Oak Ridge coaching staff submits nominations with a short resume of the athlete; the nominations are compiled and presented to the coaches for their vote.
