French country chateau offers fabulous views

By From page B1 | September 20, 2017

An artist inspired to bring the inside out and the outside in designed this gorgeous, custom home on El Dorado Hills’ north side.

The two-story, four-bedroom estate sits atop one of El Dorado County’s rolling hills and every room has a beautiful view, whether it be a grass-covered slope dotted with grazing cows, snow atop the Sierra Nevada, the American River carving out its canyon or Folsom Lake.

A fountain at the entryway is a pleasant sight for guests and the occasional deer hoping to get a drink. A small, gated courtyard leads to the front entrance. Once inside, there’s so much to admire … you might never want to leave.

The circular entryway is lit with a Tiffany-style chandelier, one of several designer lights to admire. The dining room offers a courtyard view and proximity to the butler’s pantry complete with a wine fridge and copper sink — no guest’s glass will go empty. And should some wine spill, the laundry room is also nearby.

The home has a formal living room featuring an antique marble fireplace and a grand view of the pool and hillside. Step outside to enjoy it through the French doors.

The large kitchen with custom cabinetry offers a premium place to prepare meals with upscale appliances and a unique farm sink. The nearby breakfast nook, which also has French doors leading to the patio, is a great place to enjoy your morning coffee and a scone. A bar ties the kitchen to the family room, making it easy to grab a snack before watching a movie on the home theater system — complete with surround sound.

The master bedroom is downstairs and offers room to roam, both inside and out. The room is spacious and well-lit with several windows and French doors. The master bathroom has an enclosed glass shower, jetted tub, rare Afghan granite countertops and a garden view.

Guests can also stay downstairs in a guest wing with a cozy bedroom (which could serve as another office) and a full bathroom. An office and half bath also share this side of the home.

Upstairs a roomy living space, two large bedrooms and two full bathrooms provide more space for guests, children, in-laws, etc. The views from the bedrooms are also enviable.

The homeowners installed nothing but the best when it comes to flooring — porcelain tile, tumbled marble, travertine, hickory hardwood and designer carpet — and countertops — granite and tumbled marble.

That attention to detail continues outside. Watch the sunset on the spectacular covered patio with an outdoor kitchen and fireplace or take a walk around the corner and enjoy a dip in the pool or spa. The patio offers many seating areas and stunning river and lake views — the perfect place for outdoor celebrations. Guests will undoubtedly suffer from garden envy as the current homeowner is a Master Gardener; the landscaping is immaculate with trees blooming year-round and native plants.

The home also has a three-car garage, wrought-iron fencing and gate, two air-conditioning systems and a 32-panel solar system.
